Balancing the Fire Element with Polarity Therapy

According to the teachings of Dr. Randolph Stone, who developed Polarity Therapy, areas of significant concentration representing the elements can be found in the body. These areas are called triads, and he describes the fire element triad as residing in the head, upper abdomen, and thighs.

After years of working with clients, I’ve sensed a common pattern regarding the fire element. During the assessment part of the session I pass my hand over the client to get a sense of where the energetic differences are. There are times when heat can be felt coming from the jaw area, which indicates a fire imbalance. Read the rest of this entry »

How to Tell When You’re Not Grounded

dandelionWhen you’re grounded you have full access to all your talents. You feel in the flow and things may even seem to come effortlessly. You’re able to get a lot of things accomplished in record time. You’re even-tempered and quick-thinking.

If you haven’t felt that way in a while, you might be ungrounded. Sometimes in my practice, I’ll see a client who has been ungrounded for such a long time that it has become their new normal. Their quality of life suffers as a result and it can take a while to get them grounded again. So identifying ungroundedness early on is really beneficial. Read the rest of this entry »

Jasmine’s Story- Journey to Balance

depressionI first met Jasmine* over twenty years ago when I ran a tiny art store in her neighborhood. Jasmine was creative and had a deep appreciation for the products offered so she stopped in often. She was one of those people who knew everyone– and everyone either knew Jasmine or wanted to know her. She was witty, interesting, friendly and sharp. What few beyond her family knew, was that she was suffering from depression- and this was way beyond the blues. This was chronic major depression, and as it reached its depths, Jasmine began spending more and more time secluded alone in her home- unable to interact with the community that she loved. Her quality of life seriously eroded. Read the rest of this entry »

Balance Your Chakras, Balance Your Life

heart2Chakras are energetic centers that interact with the physical, emotional and mental aspects of the human experience.

According to medical intuitive and author Caroline Myss: “Every thought and experience you’ve ever had in your life gets filtered through these chakra databases. Each event is recorded into your cells. In other words, ‘your biography becomes your biology.’ When chakra energy is blocked or misdirected, emotional and physical illness can arise.”

Chakras transmit and receive information in the form of energy. A balance is ideal, with each chakra interacting with each other as well as within its own “realm” which includes nerve ganglia, organs, body systems, emotions, glands and their hormones. However, they can become out of balance through trauma, negative experiences or attitudes, or limited belief systems. An imbalance can cause some chakras to become over or under active. But how does that affect your life? Read the rest of this entry »

Reiki: Healing at the Core Level

HealingHandsReiki has emerged as one of the best known modalities in the field of energy medicine, along with homeopathy and acupuncture.

People learn Reiki for a number of different reasons. It may surprise you to know that the majority of people who attend Reiki training have no intention of becoming practitioners in the strictest sense of the word. Some simply want to practice self-treatment. Some use it as an intro to the energetic healing arts. Some Western medicine practitioners see it as an initial step in transitioning from an allopathic into an integrative or holistic career. Others are interested in helping family and friends, or perhaps working as volunteers for the ill and those in transition who would benefit from end of life care.

No matter what the reason for learning the technique, those who learn Reiki often find they are changed at a core level. Read the rest of this entry »
